Ferrite beads are passive devices that are used to filter high-frequency noise energy across a broad frequency range. They are not actually beads but are small components (similar to resistors). Ferrite beads become resistive and reduce the noise energy. They are usually connected to the power supply rail and are often combined with capacitors to create a wider low-pass filter network.
